Chris McCreight AD 46
Chris McCreight
Office Sought:
State Assembly District 46
Office Sought: District Leader and Assembly, 46th AD
Campaign Site: www.chrismccreight.com
Endorsements so far: My endorsements include: Brooklyn Borough President Antonio
Reynoso, State Senator Andrew Gounardes, Councilmember Kayla Santosuosso, former
Councilmembers Justin Brannan, Vincent Gentile & Sal Albanese, Assemblymember
Robert Carroll, former State Senator Iwen Chu, and former Assemblymember Peter
Abbate. I’ve also been endorsed by the Working Families Party, Brooklyn Young Dems,
New Kings Democrats, Bay Ridge Democrats.
Why do you want to represent your neighbors and fellow Brooklynites in Albany? (100
words max) I live in Bay Ridge and have spent much of my career working in and for
Southern Brooklyn, including Coney Island. I served as Councilman Justin Brannan’s Chief
of Staff and continue to work in the district for newly elected Councilmember Kayla
Santosuosso. Our neighborhoods deserve a representative who will go to Albany to fight for
resources and pass laws that make New York more affordable for working families. Especially
with the chaos coming out of Washington, people need someone who is present, accessible,
and willing to open a district office and help constituents navigate real problems—unlike the
current incumbent.
What difference will you make for your community? (100 words max)
The Republican incumbent, Alec Brook-Krasny, opposes universal child care, has one of the
worst environmental voting records in the state, is openly hostile to LGBTQ+ New Yorkers,
and consistently defends tax breaks for billionaires and large corporations.
I will fight for universal child care, better public transportation, and health care for all—and
I’m not afraid to say that billionaires should pay their fair share to help make those priorities
a reality.
How will you support and empower the LGBTQ+ community, particularly at a time when
transgender people are under sustained attack from the Trump Administration? (100
words max) I will continue to publicly stand up in support of our LGBTQ+ neighbors,
something I have been doing for many years. I was the first District Leader to march in
the Brighton Pride parade and fought many battles in Bay Ridge over the years for
LGBTQ+ rights.
How will you support and empower Brooklynites being targeted by I.C.E? (100 words
max) My office will fight to ensure Brooklyn remains a place of dignity and opportunity
for immigrants and asylum seekers by protecting access to housing, legal services,
health care, and education. I strongly support the New York for All Act to codify statewide
sanctuary protections, prevent local resources from being used for federal immigration
enforcement, and ensure due process rights are respected. We must also invest in legal
defense, workforce pathways, and language access so newcomers can stabilize their
lives, contribute to our communities, and participate fully in civic life without fear.
Who did you endorse in the 2025 Mayoral Election, in both the primary and the general
election? (100 words max)
The top campaign I was focused on in 2025 was electing Kayla Santosuosso so I did not
make any endorsements in any elections except for her race and for Justin Brannan in
order to not create any distractions for her.
Although you are running for a state legislative position, we recognize that our state
elected officials have an important voice in local political communities. With that in mind,
do you/will you support the Brooklyn Can’t Wait slate of District Leader candidates and
Brooklyn Can’t Wait’s reforms to make our local party more accountable, transparent,
inclusive, and effective? (100 words max)
Yes, I support and have signed the pledge.
Similarly, we recognize that our state elected officials have an important voice in national
political dialogue as well. How will you use your voice to speak out about ending US
support for the genocide in Gaza and putting a stop to the aggression being implemented
by the Trump Administration against Venezuela, Greenland, and other areas? (100 words
max)
I will always speak my mind and I will base endorsement decisions for federal offices on
those foreign policy issues.
