Last night, LID and the Stonewall Democrats of New York were delighted to an active, spirited third Presidential debate. The watch party, at Macri Park in Williamsburg, witnessed candidate Pete Buttigieg share his coming out story on the stage, a first for presidential debates.
The Kings County Democratic Party is the largest local party affiliate in the nation.
Yet, as recently made known, it is currently in financial distress. As proud members of our local party, we have concerns about its financial oversight - an issue which has drawn criticism for its lack of transparency and accountability.
LID members were present in Sunset Park on Sunday morning with members of the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs, local volunteers, and community organizers as they helped provide New Yorkers accurate, up-to-date information about #PublicCharge to help ensure immigrants are connected to free legal support regarding public benefits.
A longtime figure in Brooklyn politics, Alan became Kings County's first openly gay District Leader (52nd Assembly District) in 2002. He was president of the Lambda Independent Democrats of Brooklyn (LID) from 1988-1990, serving as the club's leader during the height of the A.I.D.S. epidemic.
