LAMBDA INDEPENDENT DEMOCRATS CELEBRATE PRIMARY ELECTION VICTORIES FOR LGBTQ+ REPRESENTATION AND PROGRESSIVE LEADERSHIP

BROOKLYN, NY — Brooklyn's largest LGBTQ+ political club, Lambda Independent Democrats of Brooklyn (LID BK), released the following statement celebrating the election of endorsed candidates who will strengthen LGBTQ+ representation and advance the values of inclusion, equality, and effective government across Brooklyn and New York City.

"At a moment when LGBTQ+ communities are facing unprecedented attacks across the country, Brooklyn voters chose leaders who reflect the diversity of our borough and understand the importance of protecting and expanding equality," said Stephanie Fox, President of Lambda Independent Democrats of Brooklyn.

“LID-endorsed candidates were successful in races spanning Congress, State Senate, State Assembly, Civil Court, and District Leader positions, demonstrating broad support for candidates committed to equality, effective government, and progressive leadership throughout Brooklyn.

"Brooklyn voters didn't just elect progressive candidates—they strengthened LGBTQ+ representation when it matters most. LID is especially proud to celebrate the election of Christian Celeste Tate to the State Assembly and the re-election of Jabari Brisport to the State Senate. Their victories ensure that queer New Yorkers will continue to have a voice at the table when critical decisions are made and demonstrate the power of authentic LGBTQ+ leadership.

“These victories reflect not only the strength of the candidates, but also the dedication of volunteers, organizers, and voters who invested their time and energy in building a more inclusive Brooklyn. For nearly five decades, LID has worked to elect leaders who will fight for LGBTQ+ equality, reproductive freedom, economic justice, and strong public institutions. Tuesday's results demonstrate the continued power of grassroots organizing and community engagement.

“We are grateful to every candidate who participated in our endorsement process, regardless of the outcome of their race. Their willingness to put themselves forward for public service helped create a robust and meaningful democratic process for Brooklyn voters.

"As Pride Month continues, LID looks forward to working with newly elected leaders, community organizations, and advocates to build a more equitable Brooklyn and New York City for all.”
