STATEMENT: BROOKLYN DESERVES BETTER THAN A PARTY CHAIR WHO HIDES FROM HER OWN VOTERS

The following statement is attributable to Lambda Independent Democrats of Brooklyn President Stephanie Fox:

"Last night, Chair Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn and Brooklyn Democratic leadership stole an election result before it could even take effect.

Tuesday’s corrupt power grab would not survive sunlight. That's why party leaders papered over windows, barred members of the press, and slipped out the back door.

Our party rightfully calls out Trump when he tries to overturn democracy. We cannot accept that same behavior from inside our own ranks. Respecting election results isn't optional — locally or nationally.

Reformers are heading to court, and we stand with them. The Brooklyn voters who won in June deserve to have their voices heard — not silenced by the officials they just voted out.

And every district leader who voted to stand against Brooklyn voters should be on notice: you can try to paper over windows, but you can’t silence Brooklyn voters."
