This Women's History Month LID celebrates some of the trailblazing LGBTQ women of New York City's past. . . 🤍 Marsha P. Johnson 🤍 A relentless and outspoken advocate for LGBTQ rights. She was one of the main initiators and organizers of the Stonewall Riots, and co-founded the Street Transgender Action Revolutionaries (STAR), one of the first organizations that provided shelter to homeless queer youth of New York City. . . 🤍 Audre Lorde 🤍 A writer known for being ahead of her time. An activist, poet, and feminist, she was a leading African-American Woman who gave voice to issues of race, gender and sexuality.
