Former Vice President of the United States of America, and former Senator from the state of Delaware. Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, to a middle class family. No stranger to tragedy, he lost his wife and daughter to an automobile accident shortly after his first election in Delaware, and subsequently lost his son Beau to brain cancer while Vice President. Authored VAWA in 1994. A devout Catholic, yet made history in 2012 by endorsing same-sex marriage ahead of that year's election.
